Coastal traffic:
Large craft would be operated as fast passenger / car ferries and mixed traffic freighters.
Overland:
Suitable for crossing swamps, flat sandy areas, snow and ice regions.
Another possible application is in conjunction with a guide carriage above a monorail.
Small craft, displacing 1 tonne or more, can travel over supporting surface at a height of 300 mm or more at
speed of 96.6 to 144.8 Km/h.
Larger craft, weighing 10 to 5O tonnes will be able to fly at height of 0.91 to 2 m at speed of 129 to 177 Km/h
Coastal craft displacing more than 100 tonnes will fly at a height of 3 m or more.
The basic advantage of Wing-in-Ground-Effect craft is its ability to transport passengers and freight far quicker than
conventional ship, rail or road transport.
The ratio between empty weight and service load is approximately 2:1 but can certainly be improved.
Fuel consumption is 80 to 85 per cent lower than that of a boat of similar construction.
A high degree of ride comfort is achieved with these craft.
